“Human-caused climate change has intensified the heat that drives wildfires,” said Dr. Patrick Gonzalez, climate change scientist, forest ecologist, and Executive Director of the University of California, Berkeley, Institute for Parks, People, and Biodiversity. “In the western U.S., human-caused climate change has doubled the area burned by wildfire over natural levels since 1984.”
